This year’s ForMission graduation ceremony was a wonderful day of celebration, with 54 students being awarded their degree, diploma or certificate. The event was held in Birmingham on Saturday 5 November at St Martin in the Bull Ring, with some 200 people in attendance. The graduates were resplendent in their formal gowns and their families were clearly proud of what they had achieved during their time with ForMission.
Students travelled from all over the UK – and several flew in from our Central European Campus – and it was a genuine delight to worship and pray as a gathered community that is normally dispersed. Our guest speaker for the day was Dr Harvey Kwiyani, CEO of Global Connections and Director of Missio Africanus, and himself a former student of ForMission College. Harvey spoke insightfully about the state of mission in the West today and the need for us to leave behind outdated models of mission.
Principal Chris Ducker spoke of the ongoing missional journey that graduates are embarking on, and challenged them to have an attitude of “bold humility” and to be servant leaders in their present and future roles. Revd Dan Yarnell commissioned the graduating students, who we pray will continue to transform the world as they participate in the mission of God.
