New Chair for ForMission

Iain MacRobert

Iain MacRobert

Iain MacRobert has stepped down after 12 years as ForMission College’s Chair of Trustees and is succeeded by long-serving trustee Roy Baylis.

Iain is a retired educationalist and educational consultant, having previously served as HM Assistant Chief Inspector of Education in Scotland. He is also an ordained minister. Iain reflects: “Overall, my 12 years as trustee and Chair have been something of a rollercoaster ride as the College has grown from a small education and training initiative into a significant Higher Education provider. I am confident that the good work done by Martin Robinson will continue under the leadership of Chris Ducker and a skilful expanded Senior Management Team, with the strategic guidance of a more inclusive and diverse Board chaired by Roy Baylis.  I am grateful that I was able to play some small part in this great enterprise that will have impacts in time and in eternity.”

Roy Baylis

New Chair, Roy Baylis, is also an experienced educationalist, having served as a headteacher and principal at schools in the West Midlands and also as an educational and leadership consultant. Roy comments: “As the new Chair of the Board, I recognise the privileged position that I have been given; my predecessor (thank you Iain) did all the hard work of managing the process of appointing the new Principal and supporting him while the new standards and practices were embedded, and I then stepped in once all the hard work had been done! I am honoured to be given this opportunity and excited about the future direction of the college.”

Iain will be deeply missed and we are immensely grateful for all he has done and achieved during his time with us. At the same time, we are tremendously excited to welcome Roy Baylis as our new Chair and look forward to the future of ForMission under his capable leadership.

Principal Chris Ducker commented: “Iain will be deeply missed and we are immensely grateful for how he has served the college over many years. He has led with integrity, wisdom and steadfastness, and many members of the ForMission community have benefited from his insight and counsel. Both Iain and Roy will be firmly in the prayers of ForMission’s growing community of staff, students and alumni.”
