Springdale Foundation

Springdale College started life in 1980 as a mission college in Selly Oak, Birmingham, training leaders for mission. Within a few months of its inception it became part of the Federation of Selly Oak Colleges, sharing with them their passion for mission. In 2009 it joined with Together in Mission, a mission agency offering leadership training through its innovative MA and BA programmes.  In 2015 Springdale College : Together in Mission re-branded itself as ForMission to communicate its passion for the Mission of Jesus and to equip the church to be missionally effective in the Western context.

Today, ForMission offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in leadership, mission and theology, with BA and MA degrees awarded through our partnership with Newman University. We also offer training and organise events to support a range of missional activities.

In December 2015, ForMission formed The Springdale Foundation as a way of making some of our training resources accessible to partners in developing countries – and thereby honouring the Springdale name with its passion for mission. Our overseas programmes in Global South contexts are administered by The Springdale Foundation itself and do not carry university recognition or accreditation.

Current Programmes

The Springdale Foundation works in partnership with ICY Africa, offering leadership training to current and potential leaders in Kenya, Tanzania, Congo, Uganda, Ghana and Rwanda. Participants who complete this training are eligible to receive The Springdale Foundation Diploma. So far, over 40,000 young and emerging leaders have been trained using our material and are serving communities throughout Africa.
