A healthy church culture works consistently to establish agreement on values, vision and specific goals. Programmes are the tools we use to achieve our goals but it is not helpful to operate even great programmes without attempting clarity on values, vision and goals.
The hardest issue for a healthy church is to agree on values. Are deepest values are often hidden but crucial to our deepest commitments. They are difficult to express and so often churches need help in drawing out what really gives us energy around our values.
Our stated purpose and vision is the visible reality that all can see. Values are the submerged 9/10ths of the iceberg. They keep the vision steady but can sink much else precisely because they are hidden from casual observation.
